Google Play News: Google Play Brings Rewards Program to India, Now Earn Points and Enjoy Benefits While Using the Platform

Playing online games and scrolling through apps is a fun experience. In a bid to make digital experiences enjoyable, tech giant Google on Tuesday announced a global rewards program – Google Play Points – in India.

This new program will help users earn points and rewards for using the platform in different ways.

“Users will be able to earn points when they make purchases with Google Play, including in-app items, apps, games, and subscriptions,” the company said in a statement.

The feature will be rolling out to desi users in the coming week.

Technology company Google has introduced four tiers to the rewards program – Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum. As users move up in the higher category, they will be able to enjoy different benefits and prizes depending on the level they are in or the number of points they have collected.

Users can redeem their points for Google Play credit (at their convenience) on the App Store.

For this new initiative, Google Play has partnered with popular app and game developers around the world to make reward points applicable on the platform. This will ensure that users can redeem the reward points for special in-app items.

In India, more than 30 participating titles include games from global studios such as Miniclip (8 Ball Pool), TG INC (Evony: The King’s return), games from local studios such as Gametion (Ludo King), Playsimple Games (Word Trip), Gameberry Labs (Ludo Star) and popular apps such as Truecaller and Wysa.

Google Play will look to expand the program to more global and local developers in the future.

Google Play Points will also provide local developers with a new avenue to build a local and global user base; helping them engage their users, drive discovery, and acquire users across all markets with Google Play Points.
