LA TACO’s small staff is always looking for innovative ways to bring you the best local news, food and cultural stories in town. In this pursuit, we present to you our new and improved show format for our weekly Youtube series, LA TACO Live Newsmoderated by Laura Tejeda.

Starting today at 6 p.m., we’re going back to our roots. All of our upcoming episodes will now be news-driven and centered around our city’s thriving food culture. We’ll take a closer look at the daily news you see on our trompo as well as the ones we simply don’t (yet) have the resources to cover. These are all titles and stories that we have personally verified. We’ll also work hard to bring you guests ranging from engaging experts, our contributors, and other public figures in Los Angeles.

Today’s guest will be Odilia Romero, who will talk about her first feature film on Native powered al pastor tacos on LA TACO.” She is co-founder/executive director of Comunidades Indígenas en Liderazgo (CIELO); she is also a freelance Zapotec, Spanish, and English interpreter for Native communities in Los Angeles and throughout California. She has two decades of experience in organizing indigenous migrant communities. His organizational knowledge and experience is highly regarded, with multiple academic publications, awards, and lectures at universities across the United States. Ms. Romero has published on the challenges of organizing in Indigenous communities, developing women’s leadership, and preparing a new generation of young people. Her work has also been featured in the Los Angeles Times, New York Times, Vogue, Democracy Now and the Day Emmy award-winning Pan Y Circo series “Nadie es ilegal migrantes de ida y vuelta”. with Diego Luna.

We will also have our journalist Janette Villafana who will bring us new information about her break up story on Koreatown’s recent sweep of the ‘El Salvador Corridor’.
